Datasets are long-lived assets: a model trained today may have to be defended in an audit years from now. Classical digital signatures are expected to break once cryptographically relevant quantum computers arrive — which is why every SYNAPSE-EU Data Passport is sealed with a hybrid signature: a NIST-standardised post-quantum algorithm combined with a proven classical one. Verification succeeds only if both hold, so provenance remains trustworthy today and after the transition — without waiting for "harvest now, verify later" to become someone else's problem.
